R-SMART (Smart System)
The linear units of the R-SMART series are particularly suitable for high loads, the pulling and pushing of very heavy masses, demanding work cycles, unsupported installation in gantry design and for operation in automated industrial lines.
The series comprises linear units with self-supporting extruded aluminium profiles, available in four sizes from 120 to 220 mm. They are driven by a steel-reinforced polyurethane toothed belt. One or more recirculating ball bearing guides are mounted on the single rail. Multiple runners are also available to further increase the load carrying capacity.
These units are mainly used for applications where very high loads are applied in very confined spaces and where the machines cannot be stopped for regular maintenance.

Extruded profile: The anodised aluminium extrusions used for the housings of the Rollon R-SMART series linear units have been designed and manufactured in collaboration with a leading company in this field, in order to obtain the right combination of high mechanical strength and reduced weight. The 6060 alloy used for the anodised aluminium (see below for physical and chemical characteristics) has been extruded with dimensional tolerances that comply with the EN 755-9 standard.
Drive belt: The linear units of the R-SMART series use steel-reinforced polyurethane timing belts with AT tooth profile. This type of timing belt has proven to be the most suitable for drive transmission in linear units in terms of permissible drive torques, compactness and noise generation. The combination with zero backlash timing belt pulleys thus enables alternating loads without backlash. The following properties can be achieved by utilising the maximum timing belt width specified by the profile and setting an optimum belt pretension:

- Low wear and tear
Carriage: The carriage of the linear units of the R-SMART series is made of anodised aluminium. Carriages are available in two lengths for each type of linear unit.
