The security of sensitive documents sent by mail is a top priority, especially in the healthcare sector, the financial world and government agencies. But private individuals are also attaching more and more importance to withdrawal-proof mailboxes to protect themselves against theft. This is a precautionary measure that pays off, as the cantonal police in Zurich have recorded an 87% increase in parcel thefts compared to recent years.
The sums of damage involved are high. The parcel services themselves generally assume no liability if the mail was delivered correctly and then stolen.
What is the difference between traditional letterboxes and security letterboxes?
The difference between conventional models and the theft-proof variant lies in the removal protection. The latter are equipped with a special lock technology or retrieval barrier that makes it impossible to manipulate the retrieval of the deposited mail.
Why is a security letterbox worthwile?
Theft from letterboxes is not uncommon. Sometimes nosy neighbors are blamed, in more serious cases it is a criminal offense such as stolen payment orders or confidential documents that are stolen. Sophisticated security letterboxes can prevent such events and provide effective protection.
What models are there and how do they work?
HA-CO offers two systems wit all-round protection: SWING and MAILGUARD
- MAILGUARD - Universally applicable as new system or retrofit
Thanks to the special drawer lock technology, MAILGUARD letterbox systems offer effective protection against theft of letters, mainly from bank or municipal mailboxes. In contrast to conventional mailboxes with inadequate removal protection, MAILGUARD has a letter lock.
When the drawer is pulled open, the collection box is protected from tampering thanks to a flap mechanism. When the drawer is closed, the flaps lower, the letter falls into the collection container and can only be removed by authorized persons.
MAILGUARD is characterized by its high-quality design and is available in four different variants: as a slide-in unit for retrofitting an existing mailbox, for wall mounting with or without offset facades, or free-standing with support.
The attractive front design is functionally designed and dimensionally adaptable. Letters up to and including B4 format can be inserted in all variants.
- SWING - maximum prevention
In contrast to MAILGUARD, the SWING model allows mail to be inserted via a flap. Due to a retrieval lock in the 2-chamber system, letters are optimally protected against manimulation and theft. When the letter drop flap is opened, the mailbox is divided by the swiveling removal guard inside. The inserted letter first falls into the upper lock chamber. When the flap is closed, the biref then falls into the collection chamber and remains safely stored.
SWING is available in various designs, both free-standing and for wall mounting.
