Have you ever wondered what an airplane needs to fly to your favorite vacation destination? Whether you take a Boeing-747 across the Atlantic, an Airbus A319 in Europe, or even a small private jet to a remote island, the basic mechanics of any aircraft are the same and consist of five main parts, i.e. fuselage, cockpit, wings, tail and engine. Each of these parts also includes thousands of individual parts, the manufacture of which requires special skills and machinery.
Micado is a specialist company based in Oberlienz (Austria) for product development, automation technology and the creation of molding tools and fixtures. Technical rethinking is at the heart of its work, and complex solutions - as well as special machines for the manufacture of products such as these aircraft parts - emerge from the application of simple processes.
Working with an Irish aircraft manufacturer, Micado recently produced the world's first universal fixture for machining wing shells. Using active and passive adjustable vacuum actuators, along with conventional hard tooling, efficiency is increased to save time and money throughout production.
However, for the fixture to really be as efficient as possible, downtime must be kept to a minimum. Replaceable parts must be easily accessible, so Micado decided to incorporate drawer slides into the workstation ... for a compact storage solution. Micado turned to leading Austrian industrial distributor HA-CO to find the perfect drawer slides for this application, and chose Accuride's 9301 telescopic slide and DBHANL locking lever.
Our 9301 rail is a heavy-duty extension rail that is ideal for industrial applications like this. It has a load capacity up to 272 kg and full extension with lengths up to 1.5 meters: therefore, the entire contents of the drawer are easily and rationally accessible. This telescopic rail is suitable for pull-outs up to 1.06 m wide for safe storage of even the largest and most complicated components.
Together with our locking lever DBHANL, which can be locked in retracted and extended position (requiring an opening or closing force of 60 N), Micado is offered a robust and space-saving solution perfect for quick and easy replacement of spare parts.
