Metal bellow couplings

Metal bellows couplings are torsionally stiff couplings, also known as corrugated pipe couplings, bellows couplings, servo couplings, torsionally stiff couplings, miniature couplings, etc. They transmit the rotary motion from one shaft end to the other with angular accuracy and backlash-free. Misalignments on the shafts, caused by manufacturing and assembly inaccuracies, as well as thermal expansion and other deformation, are compensated by the laterally, angularly and axially flexible metal bellows. In the case of bellows couplings, there are no unacceptably high bearing loads, as may be the case with rigid couplings. The various types of couplings differ in the type of shaft-hub connection and in size and material. Keyways and the like are generally not necessary.
