Robot linear axis from Rollon - HA-CO Switzerland

ROBOT (Plus System)

The linear axes of the ROBOT series are particularly suitable for applications with high load capacities where the carriage is subject to strong forces (yaw, pitching and rolling) or for linear movements in SCARA robots used in production lines. The ROBOT series is suitable for all demanding applications due to its robust design and high load capacities.

The linear units of the ROBOT series are available in four sizes from 100 mm to 220 mm. They have a robust structure made of an extruded, anodised aluminium profile with a square cross-section. The driving force is transmitted by a steel-reinforced polyurethane toothed belt. The carriage travels on two parallel linear guides with four self-lubricating, maintenance-free ball cages that support the carriage and all loads and moments that occur. Several independent or idling carriages are also available to further increase the load carrying capacity.

A polyurethane cover belt protects the belt drive from dust, dirt, foreign matter, liquids and other contaminants.

The ROBOT series is the first choice for heavy duty applications with high travel speeds and changing loads in aggressive operating environments where a maintenance-free industrial automation solution with high repeatability is required.

The new drive head has been designed to allow great freedom in dimensioning the application and in mounting the gear unit on the ROBOT series linear drives. With the new drive head it is possible to install the gear unit on the left or right side of the drive using a standard mounting kit.

Aluminium profile: The self-supporting profiles used in the linear unit of the ROBOT series have been designed and constructed in collaboration with a leading manufacturer in this sector, so that anodised precision extrusion profiles with high mechanical properties and high moments of inertia have been realised. The dimensions are tolerated according to EN 755-9. The material used is anodised aluminium of alloy 6060. On the outside of the extruded profiles there are also grooves for quick and easy assembly and/or for fixing accessories.

Drive belt: Steel-reinforced polyurethane timing belts with AT tooth profile are used in the linear units of the ROBOT series. This type of timing belt has proven to be the most suitable for drive transmission in linear units in terms of permissible drive torques, compactness and noise generation. The combination with zero backlash timing belt pulleys thus enables alternating loads without backlash. The following properties can be achieved by utilising the maximum timing belt width specified by the profile and setting an optimum belt pretension:

  • High travel speeds
  • Low noise emission
  • Low wear and tear

In order to prevent premature wear due to sagging of the drive belt in the case of long strokes and when mounted tilted sideways, additional ball bearings are fitted in the end heads of the linear units, which guide the belt precisely and with low friction on the pulley in the area of the deflection.

Carriage: The carriage of the linear units of the ROBOT series is made of anodised aluminium. The dimensions vary according to the different types. The carriage consists of two individual parts to allow the protective belt to pass through. The threads of the fixing holes are provided with steel inserts. Brush seals are inserted in the front and side parts of the carriage to provide additional protection against the ingress of dirt.
